Use for semester fees, certification courses, or kids' mid-term school fees. MyTrustCredit is not a replacement for PTPTN — a top-up when PTPTN doesn't cover enough.

Rates shown are MyTrustCredit's commercial rates; PTPTN and government scholarships remain the cheapest option where you qualify.

Eligibility

Who qualifies for an education top-up loan

The borrower is the working adult — typically the parent, the student who's already working, or the adult learner.

  • Borrower aged 21+ with a valid Malaysian MyKad or PR card
  • Monthly income of at least RM 2,000 from employment, EPF or verifiable business income
  • If borrowing for a child: you are the parent or legal guardian
  • If borrowing for yourself: you are either working or have a confirmed job offer starting within 3 months
  • Course / institution is recognised (MQA-accredited in Malaysia, or internationally-recognised certification body)
  • Willing to upload the tuition invoice, offer letter or course confirmation
  • Clean CTOS / CCRIS within the last 12 months

Full-time students without income can't borrow directly from MyTrustCredit — ask a parent or guardian with income to apply on your behalf.

Why MyTrustCredit for education top-ups

Built for adult learners and parents

Three reasons this beats a generic personal loan for study-related borrowing.

  1. MyTrustCredit waives processing fees when you attach a verifiable tuition invoice — up to RM 200 saved on larger tickets.
  2. Flexible tenure up to 5 years — useful when you're balancing study costs against a smaller learning-phase income.
  3. We'll always remind you that PTPTN, MyBrainSc, and employer sponsorship come first. We'd rather you skip the loan than take on one you don't need.

Real stories

Malaysians investing in learning

Composite examples from 2025–2026 applicants.

Izzat, ACCA candidate

RM 6,500 · 36 months

Already working in audit; needed to fund two ACCA papers plus exam fees his employer wouldn't cover. Borrowed in his own name, planning to settle early once his promotion (conditional on passing) comes through.

Mrs Wong, mother of two

RM 4,500 · 24 months

Mid-term school-fee top-up for both children at a private international school after her husband's commission income dropped. Used the loan to avoid transferring mid-year, with plans to settle once his year-end bonus lands.

Priya, AWS career-switcher

RM 9,000 · 48 months

Paying for a 6-month cloud-certification bootcamp. Chose 4-year tenure to keep monthly outflow low while she builds up her new salary post-certification.

Repayment generally starts the month after disbursement — factor this into your study cashflow plan.

Questions?

Education loan FAQs

Specific questions about commercial education top-up loans in Malaysia.

Can I use this to top up my PTPTN loan?

Yes, this is one of the most common uses. PTPTN often covers tuition but not living costs or lab fees. A MyTrustCredit commercial top-up fills the gap. Keep the two separate — don't use this loan to repay PTPTN, because PTPTN is cheaper.

Can I use it for an international university?

Yes, you can. You (the borrower) must be Malaysian resident with a Malaysian bank account and Malaysian income source. The course institution can be anywhere. You'll need to upload the offer letter and invoice.

When does repayment start?

The month after disbursement, on a date agreed with MyTrustCredit — there is no study-period grace period like PTPTN offers. This is a commercial loan, not a government-subsidised one.

Do I need to declare what I'm studying?

You'll be asked for the course and institution name on the application. MyTrustCredit uses this only where relevant to approval — for instance, a medical specialist course may unlock more favourable terms.

Can a full-time student apply without income?

No. MyTrustCredit requires the borrower to have stable income. If you're a full-time student, ask a working parent, guardian or spouse to apply on your behalf. Your name would only appear as the beneficiary of the tuition payment.

Your course and institution details are handled with the same care as your financials.
